Yes, India has the highest cricket ground in the world. It’s the Chail Cricket ground at the beautiful hill station of Chail in Himachal Pradesh. This ground has a cricket pitch. It also has football posts and a basketball court. Polo is played here during school vacations. It has perfect scenery surrounded by pine and deodar trees.

History of Chail Cricket Ground

Chail is a hill station, 49 km away from the capital city, “Shimla.” In 1893, the then Maharaja Bhupinder Singh was not allowed to enter the summer capital of the state “Shimla”, due to differences between him and Lord Kitchener. So he decided to make Chail as his summer capital. He made this cricket ground in 1893, after leveling a hilltop. The King used to play friendly matches with his friends here.

After accession to the Indian union, the ground and most of the buildings of the king were given to the military army school. Right now, the ground is also used by the army school. They even built a tree house in the corner of the ground which is worth seeing.

Chail is a tourist place

There are various places in Chail that attract a lot of tourists, especially in the summer seasons. This season is preferred due to the warm sunlight during the day and cold nights. The temperature is between 15⁰ C to 24⁰C. Some of the places for tourists are the Chail wildlife sanctuary, Chail gurudwara, Sadhpul lake, Kali ka Tibba, and apparently the highest cricket ground.
