History of Chail Cricket Ground

Chail is a hill station, 49 km away from the capital city, “Shimla.” In 1893, the then Maharaja Bhupinder Singh was not allowed to enter the summer capital of the state “Shimla”, due to differences between him and Lord Kitchener. So he decided to make Chail as his summer capital. He made this cricket ground in 1893, after leveling a hilltop. The King used to play friendly matches with his friends here.

After accession to the Indian union, the ground and most of the buildings of the king were given to the military army school. Right now, the ground is also used by the army school. They even built a tree house in the corner of the ground which is worth seeing.
