Oily skin is a more significant struggle than having a bad hair day. We have all struggled with our skin, except for those who have naturally gifted good skin. Envious! Different skin types have different struggles. Some of us deal with excessive oil, whereas some of us deal with dryness. But we are in the same race. To get that glowing and radiant skin.

Oily skin is known as seborrhea and is a result of excessive sebum on the surface. The sebum can clog the pores on your face, resulting in the formation of acne. 1. Yoghurt Face Mask

For this face mask, you will require:

  • Two tablespoons of yoghurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Mix the items and apply it on your face, and leave it on for 10-12 minutes. Wash with warm water, and use an oil-free moisturizer after. Lemon has properties of citric acid, which controls the excessive sebum secretion to the skin. At the same time, yogurt is a natural cleanser. This face mask helps in removing the oil and dead skin cells. You can apply this mask once a week, for smooth, oil-free skin. 

2. Fuller’s Earth Face Mask

For this face mask, you will need:

  • Two tablespoons of fuller’s earth (Multani mitti)
  • One tablespoon of lemon juice
  • Two tablespoons of cucumber juice

Soak fuller’s earth for 30 mins, then mix the rest of the ingredients with it. Apply the mask, and let it be for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with cold water. You can also add a few drops of milk to avoid excessive dryness. Fuller’s earth has properties to absorb oil, while cucumber has vitamin C and astringent properties. The face mask will help in tightening skin pores and removing the oil and dirt from your face. Furthermore, this mask helps in blood circulation as well. For better results, apply it thrice a week.

There are other masks with fuller’s earth as an essential ingredient. Along with it you can add rose water, lemon juice or mix it with water!

3. Orange Peel Mask

For this face mask, you will require:

  • Two tablespoons of powdered dry orange peels
  • Two tablespoons of milk

Dry the orange peels first and then powder them to mix it with two tablespoons of milk. Apply the mask and keep it for 10-25 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Dried orange peels help in maintaining oily skin. It opens and cleans clogged pores on the face. On the other hand, milk is used, to avoid extra dryness and to keep the shine on the skin. You can apply the mixture once a week, for shiny but non-greasy skin.

You can mix powdered orange peels with either curd or water. The mixture with curd will give you the same results as with milk. While, water, is recommended for excessively oily skin.

4. Egg White Face Mask

For this face mask, the ingredients needed are:

  • One egg white
  • One tablespoon of yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • One tablespoon of lemon juice

Whisk all the items together, avoiding any lumps. Apply the mask and keep it on until it hardens. Rinse it with lukewarm water. Egg white acts as a pore cleanser. It also helps in reducing the size of the pore, while removing dirt. Furthermore, the protein in the egg helps in tissue repair torn due to acne. It can also slow the ageing process, by hydrating and moisturizing the skin.  

On the other hand, honey acts as an antibacterial, and lemon juice has citric acid, that clears out the bacteria. You can use this face mask only once a week, for bright and hydrated skin!

5. Oats Face Mask

Items required for this face mask:

  • Half cup of oatmeal
  • Half ripe avocado

Take half a cup of oatmeal and half-ripe avocado. Before mixing the two, soak oats in water, and mash the avocado to a pulp. Mix the two ingredients, once they soften and apply to your face. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse it with cold water.

Oats acts as a beautiful absorbent, as it helps in absorbing excessive oil from the skin. Avocado, on the side, helps in maintaining healthy, while making it less greasy. It is rich in antioxidants and essential fats. For nourishing and radiant skin, use this face mask once a week.

6. Gram Flour Face Mask 

For this face mask, you will need:

  • Two tablespoons of gram flour
  • One tablespoon of lemon juice
  • A pinch of turmeric powder       
  • One and 1\2 tablespoon of yoghurt

Mix all the items. But make sure that you only add a pinch of turmeric powder. Turmeric powder in excess may lead to yellowness on your face. Apply the mask on your face, and let it stay until it dries. Wash it off with warm water. Gram flour has drying properties, helping in removing the excess sebum from your face. At the same time, lemon juice consists of astringent properties. Turmeric makes the skin glow. The mask is a natural exfoliating scrub for oily skin. 7. Tomato Face Mask 

Ingredients for this face mask are:

  • One ripe mashed tomato
  • One tablespoon of honey
  • One tablespoon of lemon juice

 Mash the tomato, and mix well all the items together; apply it on your face. Leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse with cold water. Face masks with tomato as a necessary ingredient are very good for dissolving excess sebum while shrinking the pores. It has natural astringent properties.

 Ingredients required for this mask are:

  • One tablespoon bentonite clay
  • Four drops of witch hazel

Bentonite clay is a type of clay that is mostly available in natural food stores or can be bought online from herb suppliers. Mix a tablespoon with a few drops of witch hazel. Apply the mask for 10 minutes, then rinse with cold water. Both the ingredients have astringent properties, helping in the control of excessive sebum. The mask is excellent for clean looking skin. But we recommend a patch test before you apply the mask, as witch hazel is not suitable for all.
