Stick out your tongue and notice the following things on it!
White patches

Indicates: – Overgrowth of candida, which is yeast/thrush
Treatment: – Can be treated with an anti-fungal rinse or pill
Black and hairy looking appearance

Indicates: – A yeast infection, diabetes, cancer or poor oral hygiene/ Smoking & Chronic Alcoholism
Treatment: – Depends on the cause of the above-mentioned choices.
Red and white sports

Indicates: – Areas where your taste buds have worn down (In some cases, it may be indicative of an Oral Cancer)
Treatment: – it is common, treatment is not required.
Redness

Webbed or striped look

Indicates: a Chronic condition called oral lichen planus caused by the immune system attacking the cells
Treatment: – Same as one for lichen planus
Ridges

Indicates: – It usually results out of teeth pressing into the tongue which happens while you are sleeping
Treatment: – Nothing to worry, it goes off on its own.
Bumps
Indicates: – canker sores and herpes
Treatment: – Medications for both can help to get rid of these bumps.
