3 Reasons Why Books Have A Rectangular Shape
“When you open a book, you open a new world,” They say. Books are a constant companion, full of brainstorming ideas and life lessons.
We have been reading books since our childhood and we’ll read them till death do us apart. But, have you ever noticed how books and notebooks always come in a rectangular shape? Why not the circular shape? Or any other shape for that matter? Let’s find out.
Reason 1:
Suppose, the notebooks come in the shape of a square. You are to write something on the square-shaped paper. You would have to stretch your hands to write till the end which is quite complicated.
The same is the case with the Books. If the Books had come in the square-shaped form, the reader will have to move their eye-balls till the very end of the page and this would exhaust the readers. It will cause heavy strain to the eyeballs. Thus, for reading efficiency, the notebooks, and books are created in a rectangular shape.
Reason 2:
Another fact is that the books are to be kept on the shelves. If the books had a square-shape, it would occupy more area thereby reducing the number of books on the shelves. Hence, with rectangular books, we can make maximum use of the shelf area.
Reason 3:
The last reason as to why the books come in a rectangular shape is so that the readers can easily read the title of the books. Suppose a book comes in a triangular or circular shape, the reader will have trouble reading the title of the Book. It would be very difficult to write titles on the border of the book.
So clearly, the people who came up with the concept of books and notebooks have put in a lot of thought while creating the perfect shape. Hence, all the books and the notebooks come in a rectangular shape. Interesting right?
