Well, everything in French sounds cool and better! That’s the reason where this Indian crockery brand got its name from. Surprisingly, it is a Kolkata-based crockery brand.

2. Munich Polo

With an obvious European sounding name, this kids’ wear brand has nothing to do with foreign relations. It is just another trick on Indian mindsets that have a fascination for foreign things.

3. Monte Carlo

A part of Ludhiana based Nahar group, this woolen clothing brand only has an Italian name and is actually 100% Indian.

4. Da Milano

People’s fascination for Italian sounding names has inspired this brand to name it so. This luxury brand of high-end leather accessories and home furnishings is not even a bit involved with Italy.  Indian entrepreneur Sahil Malik owns it.

5. Louis Philippe

A must brand on every Indian men’s closet, Louis Philippe is totally home-grown. It is just that the name was inspired by the French king Louis Philippe from 1830. Surprisingly, this brand is owned by Aditya Birla Group’s division  Madura Fashion and Lifestyle.

6. Chandon Wine

Though owned by French specialist Moet Hennessy, Chandon is completely produced with grapes grown a few kilometres outside of Mumbai.

7. East India Company

Believe it or not, Mumbai-born Sanjiv Mehta owns this premier luxury goods company.

Yet another premium footwear brand based out of Delhi with an Italian name just to appeal to the Indian customers to boost sales.

9. Peter England

Peter England is a premium menswear brand with an obvious English heritage, right? Wrong! In reality, it is a part of Madura Fashion and Lifestyle.
