The human immune system is a defense system that includes various organs to fight diseases and helps one to stay healthy. Although building good immunity is a long process, there are many ways by which one can give a little boost to their immunity. 

Many beverages play an important role in maintaining our health. Staying hydrated is one of the simplest ways to do that. It’s not necessary to always have expensive drinks, one can make health drinks at home. Making your health drinks is also beneficial as it will help you to cut down your calorie intake from your daily energy and other carbonated drinks.

Here are some homemade health drinks to boost immunity

1. Ayurvedic Kadha

Kadha is a traditional Indian drink that is known for its properties to cure cold and flu. This homemade health drink helps protect us from infections and is often consumed as a tea during winter. 

Ingredients 

  • 3-4 Tulsi leaves (Basil) 
  • Fresh mint leaves 
  • 1 Green cardamom 
  • ¼ Teaspoon of Black pepper 
  • Ginger 
  • 2 Cloves  
  • 2-3 Black raisins 

Method: Mix all the ingredients and boil them in water. Simmer it till the water is reduced to half. One can even add jaggery to improve its taste. 

2. Golden Turmeric Milk

Turmeric milk has been consumed for centuries by people as it has many health benefits. Turmeric is Tridoshic and it balances all our doshas (disturbances) in our body. That it can boost our metabolism and it is helpful in curing sore throats too. 

Ingredients 

  • Milk 
  • Turmeric 
  • Ghee 
  • Black pepper  
  • Pinch of Cinnamon 

Method: Boil the milk. After it cools down a bit add turmeric powder and pepper and a teaspoon of ghee in it. Mix it well before transferring it into a cup. 

3. Green Juice

Green juice is a simple yet very healthy beverage that is made with green vegetables which are rich in vitamins, potassium, and other nutrients.  

Ingredients  

  • 1-2 Cucumbers 
  • 1-2 leaves of Kale 
  • ½ Organic apple 
  • 2-3 Celery sticks  
  • Lemon juice  

Method: Wash all the vegetables and mix them in a juicer. You can also add some ice cubes and drink it right away. 

4. Ragi Malt

  • 2-3 tablespoons of Ragi powder 
  • 2 cups of water 
  • Lemon juice 
  • Pinch of salt 
  • Curd 

Method: Make a paste with Ragi powder and water in a bowl. Now, boil 2 cups of water, add salt and Ragi paste in it. Cook it for 2-3 minutes and then let it cool down. Once it cools down, pour the mixture into a glass. Add curd and lemon juice to it. And our Ragi malt is ready to serve!

Buttermilk is a fermented drink that is an excellent source of protein and probiotics. Vitamin A in buttermilk helps to keep our eyesight healthy and it’s also good for the lungs, heart, and kidney. 

Ingredients  

  • 1 cup of curd  
  • 1 cup of water 
  • Black salt  
  • Roasted cumin powder  
  • Curry leaves 
  • Chopped coriander and mint leaves 

Method: Use a whisker or a blender to mix curd, water, cumin powder, and salt together. Now add coriander, mint, and curry leaves in the mixture and it’s ready to serve. 

6. Apple Cider Vinegar With Ginger Juice

Mixing apple cider vinegar with ginger juice and honey makes a very powerful drink that boosts our metabolism and helps in weight loss. It also helps in acid reflux if you take it regularly in the morning. 

7. Carrot Milk

Ingredients  

  • 1 medium-sized carrot 
  • Water 
  • 200 ml of milk  
  • Jaggery (optional) 

Method: Boil the grated carrot in one cup of water. Once the water is reduced to half, add 200 ml of milk in it and let it further boil. Pour it in a glass once it cools down and then you can add jaggery to it if you want.

  • 2-3 cups of water 
  • Grated turmeric or 2 tablespoons of pure turmeric powder.

Method: Boil water in a pan and add turmeric to it. Allow the mixture to simmer. After 10 minutes, strain the tea and add 1 tablespoon of honey to it.

Ingredients  

  • ½ tablespoon of cumin seeds 
  • ½ tablespoon of coriander seeds 
  • ½ tablespoon of fennel seeds (Avoid fennel seeds if you are pregnant) 
  • 2-3 cups of water 

Method: Boil all the ingredients in water. Simmer it for 4-5 minutes and then strain it. It is more beneficial if you take this drink empty stomach in the morning.
