How Much Do You Know About the Most Loved Food Golgappa

Who isn’t in love with these “thode teekhe thode meethe” spheres called as golgappas! No one is left untouched by the magic of this amazing Indian snack. It is just the best thing one could have as an evening snack. And the best part is that one could spot a golgappa seller on almost every street, here in India. We Indians so love it!

Gol Gappe originated in the Magadha region of India. It is known as phoolki there. Golgappe is enjoyed all over India and is called by various names in different places. They are known as Pani ke Patashe in Haryana, Pani ke Batashe in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, Phuchka in West Bengal, Gup Chup in Odisha, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh, Pakodi in Gujrat, Phulki in Madhya Pradesh and Pani Puri in Maharashtra.

Pani Puri is basically fried bread that is crunchy and is hollow so that some stuffing could be added to it. Stuffing includes mashed potato, boiled chickpeas, and sometimes tomatoes and onions too. After stuffing the ‘puri’, it is first filled with some sweet n sour chutney of tamarind and then with spicy and sour water made up with the blend of various spices. Once this heavenly sphere goes into your mouth it floods your mouth with a blend of different flavors! Everyone is going to be spellbound!

In my opinion, the beauty of this amazing thing called golagappa is really hard to explain in words! Anyone who is new to this super amazing Indian snack should straight away try it to know the answer to the question “ Ye Gol Gappe itne tasty kyu hai?”
